Jesse's Sale Picks (page 2)

Jesse’s Sale Picks I do this for a living, and a big sale still gets to me. So many pieces marked down at once, and suddenly I’m standing in my own hallway holding two samples like I’ve never made a decision in my life. So this is my version of pulling up a chair. When we run a sale, I go through it and pull the pieces I would actually buy. That’s the whole list. How I Pick I start with the piece I’d still want at full price. A good price has never saved the wrong table. Then I look for things that earn their place, in materials that look better with a few years on them...real wood, stone, leather, a little patina. And I want a mix, so you’ll see big furniture sitting next to a lamp sitting next to something small for a shelf. Where I’d Start Pick one room. Ask what you’re doing in that room and how you want to feel in it, those two questions will tell you more than any sale page. Then figure out what the room is missing. A room can only take one star of the show, and a sofa, a dining table or a big rug is worth waiting for a sale. Lamps, side tables and the small things on a shelf are your supporting characters, and that’s where you can go in loose. If you’re eyeing a set, break it up. Keep the half you love and let the other half come from somewhere else. My Honest Take If nothing here is right for your house, skip it. I would rather you wait for the right piece than own a good deal you have to live around. And if you’re down to the last two and can’t call it, our design team will look at it with you. I always feel honored when somebody lets us be part of their home. Jesse Common Questions What are Jesse’s Sale Picks? My short list from the current Scout & Nimble sale, the furniture, lighting and decor I would buy first. The list changes with each sale. What should I buy first during a furniture sale? The biggest piece in the room you’re working on, usually a sofa, a dining table or a rug. Everything else in the room takes its cue from that one.
